Parihaka Vocabulary

Kia Ora Everyone,

I and my class have started on some vocabulary words
Confiscate
Te Whiti
Tohu
Peaceful Protest
Te Raukura
I think to confiscate means taking away like the pakeha confiscated Maori land. Just like the Pakeha had promised to keep giving the Maori their land but had confiscated their land in Taranaki.

Te Whiti is involved with Parihaka because he was fighting against the government. Te Whiti and Tohu were arrested for 16 months in the South Island and was released to continue their protests

Tohu was involved with Parihaka because he led the peaceful resistance movement in 1881.
Peaceful Protest is where a protest went well like the Women's Suffrage that happened years after Parihaka had ended.

Te Raukura Feather is the white albatross feather which is a sign of peace for which the Parihaka was trying to associate with the Pakeha
Thanks for reading my blog post. Please leave me some feedback

  1. Hi Harmony it is Elektra here. Today I look at your blog post about Parhaka. I like that you put a lot of information about Parhaka in your blog post about Parhaka. I like that you put some vocabulary words on your blog. Next time your cloud put a picture of the Taranaki mountain and village.is parihaka a public holiday?
